Suatu program TOWN HALL MEETING MPSepang bersama Ketua Ketua Jabatan MPSepang dan Persatuan Penduduk & KRT Taman Putra Prima, Taman Mas, Kg Sri Aman anjuran Pusat Khidmat Ahli Majlis & JPP Zon Taman Mas-Putra Prima telah berlangsung pagi tadi bertempat di ruang parkir KFCH Taman Putra Prima Commercial Square.
Program pagi ini dihadiri oleh Ahli Majlis En Pulantran, En Santokh Singh dan En Baharuddin, Ketua Jabatan Landscape, Keindahan Bandar, Perancangan, Kejuruteraan, Kesihatan, Perlesenan, Penilaian, Bangunan, OSC, COB. Wakil dan Pengurus Kanan dari Pemaju Masteron / Plenitude Bhd dan para media. Manakala penduduk tempatan di hadiri oleh pemerhati, wakil atau AJK persatuan penduduk dan KRT.
Tujuan dan Objektif progran ini adalah seperti berikut:

- Memberikan penerangan berkenaan pengurusan pentadbiran majlis Perbandaran Sepang.
- Sesi suai kenal Ketua Jabatan bersama penduduk.
- Perkhidmatan yang disediakan oleh majlis Perbandaran.
Objektif
- Town Hall Meeting diadakan bagi memberi pengetahuan secara ilmiah dan praktikal mengenai urus tadbir MPSepang kepada penduduk setempat.
- Meningkatkan kesedaran kepada penduduk serta badan-badan yang terlibat.
- Mendedahkan kepentingan kawalan pencegahan kepada para penduduk.
- mengeratkan hubungan dua hala di antara MPSepang dengan Penduduk

What is a Town Hall Meeting?

A town hall meeting is an American term given to an informal public meeting, function, or event derived from the traditional town meetings of New England. It is an open to the public meeting about issues and problems concerning a certain area. They are usually held on a monthly, quarterly or an as needed basis. They go over community problems or issues and try to come up with solutions .
Yes, we can see these examples from some of the American movies like Dante Peak where the local council meet with the citizen concerning the ‘volcano’ problem faced by the town. In that movie, because the ‘big shot’ is more concern about the new investment to the town and decided to delay the warning to its citizen about the danger of the active volcano, many lives were lost.
The local council should act in the interest of its citizen and not let others influence its decision/action that will lead to tragedy / accident / crime / lost of human lives. Citizen well being should be the out most important above anything else (eg. politic, favouritism, etc.). Even some time its decision may lead to some objections, ‘big picture’ should be taken into consideration and some compromises may be needed to achieve its objectives.
It is a great initiative by the MP Sepang to meet with the residents of Taman Putra Prima and its surrounding taman-taman to get to know the residents’ problems and suggestion for some of the problems. Thanks to the Gabungan Persatuan Penduduk Taman Putra Prima for reminding the MP Sepang of the problems faced by the residents. Hope with this, MP Sepang will look into the problems and resolve the problems in timely manner.
