5/9/2013 RA reporting
A morning heavy downpour had flooded the western end portion of poor drainage newly re-built Jalan Putra Prima Utara. 2 cars were stranded while many cars were back off and making detour.
This morning incident was immediately reported to the Majlis via whatsApp upload. The MPSepang engineering department officer responded to me follow by immediate deployment of excavator to open up some ditches in an attempt to ease off the discharge of flood water.
At the meantime, the Majlis had already commenced drainage flow diversion construction works where drain water flow is re-diverted directly to Taman Mas main monsoon drain instead of poorly flowing to the water retention basin. The main problem is the storm water retention level is relatively high and embankment or retaining structure was made for the purpose of slowing down storm water from rapidly discharging into the nearby Klang river, thus causing poor drainge and stagnant water at the flood spot.
Hopefully after the drainage diversion work completed, there will be no more flooding to our newly re-built sunken road.
- Stockpile of box culvert concrete section.
- Majlis called to open up ditches
- The flow of drain water is diverting to Taman Mas from here.
- 2 cars were stranded near the tee junction
- excavation to lay box culvert across the road to Taman Mas
- Flood water is 9 inches deep at some part of the road
I just had a site inspection including affecting Taman Mas problem with the officer from the engineering department of MPSepang, and also to monitor the rectification work in progress and had an in-depth discussion about the underlying problems.
Certainly developer needs a better storm management planning and infrastructure in Taman Putra Prima master plan before allowing more houses added into the development. I think the majlis is aware of this.
With wet season looming, hope MP Sepang will take more proactive action to deal with this. Otherwise, there will be another ‘RM2.6 million’ project need to be approved.
The RA simply can not keep quiet, this is the job of the developer who created all these mess, from sink hole, flood, sunken road, broken sewer, guard house issue, fencing, playground……All these problems we face now are from poor conceptual planning and design in the first place. Plus poor supervision and workmanship. Then handed over to Majlis and now problems poop out, all residents are suffering and getting annoyed …….where is developer after sales service and PR works???
Why we have to face all these hardship and unpleasantness?????? Can someone answer us?
Really appreciate to the prompt response and action taken by Majlis. However prevention is always better than cure, Majlis should learn from the experience to overcome and scrutinize the upcoming new propose road and drainage system before commencement of work. All of these investment of infrastructure are from the public hard earn money, authority should spend it wisely but not make the public suffering and disappointed.
