Blue-tailed Bee-eater   (Merops philippinus)

蓝尾蜂虎的是一个近乎雀形目鸟类,蜂虎科蜂虎家族.

Size & diagnostic markings:- The Blue-tailed Bee-eater is 24 cm long with the streamers extending another 7.5 cm. bronze green crown all the way to the back, thin border of pale yellow at the throat followed by chestnut color on the rest of the throat to the breast. Blue -green on the upper part and the under part pale yellow.
Distribution :-  The bird is native in Philippines, Sulawesi and the surrounding Islands. Then breeds in countries at the southern foothills of the Himalayas. 
Habitats & preferences:- This is lowland open country birds. Found often in ricefields and besides mangrove forest.
In Malaysia, where can the bird be found:- This bird when arriving into the country will spread its presence to all urban as well as rural area at the beginning of the season. Some spot the bird would stay for a longer period while others just a day or so. The bird would settle down and be present in entire season in areas of open country. As mentioned earlier, padifields and edge of pathways in mangrove forest.

  3. Ha ha ha! You and your birds again, better enjoy them now. Once the housing development starts on the land beside/behind it, all the birds will be scared off and more ‘lizards’ will visit our houses even more often.

  4. it is awesome! I really don’t realize that it is species travel thousand kilometre to our land. its really a good scene that show our wetland attracted various species enjoy the reserve wetland.

      四脚蛇是没有毒和不伤人的,如有看见请叫保安, 我家住在最靠近河边,差不多每天都看到四脚蛇和很多小鸟. 请不要惊慌,我们的Taman很大自然, 有很多小动物会在你家附近.

    This pair of blue tailed bee eater were spotted by the river side next to my house at Jalan PP2/8, Taman Putra Prima 8A, it is not native to Malaysia, It is strongly migratory. The bird is native in Philippines, Sulawesi and the surrounding Islands. Then breeds in countries at the southern foothills of the Himalayas.
